While still in the construction phase, Linesight’s agile and integrated team has been instrumental in assisting the confidential client in making more informed decisions with respect to: Monitoring monthly sub-contractor payment progress claims, cash flows, EOT (extension of time) claims analysis, and establishing entitlement on variation order, through pre- and post-contract management services.
Addressing logistical challenges – Given the size of Singapore and its land constraints, the facility will be several storeys high as land restrictions present unique challenges in logistics, which Linesight continues to address through proper planning and scheduling.
Materials for energy efficiency – Perforated, lightweight materials will be used for the façade, allowing for proper airflow, and installing solar panels to help save on energy use. As a trusted partner, Linesight ensures that procurement strategies are in place for transparent tendering process.
Required labor – The size of this project requires approximately 3,000 workers onsite, which is significantly larger than any other data centre project in Singapore.

Driving Innovation and Energy Efficiency

Singapore aims to reduce carbon emissions in half by 2050, which is a challenging goal given the continued growth of the data centre sector in the country. [1] However, it also presents an opportunity for Singapore to explore green building, paving the way to become the leader in energy efficient, sustainable data centres.

The evolution of data centre designs, including the opportunity to incorporate new mechanisms that align with sustainability targets, is prevalent on this project. The project team is constantly looking forward and currently considering advanced elements such as a Liquid Cooling System, which is a form of technology that minimizes water and power consumption. This type of technology can reduce peak water usage by more than 20 per cent in tropical climates like Singapore’s. The new indirect evaporative cooling technology uses outside air to induce evaporation, which helps cool the water.

Once completed, the scope and scale of this new facility is expected to be one of the most advanced and energy efficient data centres in the world, thus aligning with, and contributing to, Singapore’s vision of becoming a global leader in the data centre sector. [2]
