Linesight has been engaged by a general contractor to provide consulting services for its largest project to date. Linesight is providing a range of services for a multi-storey hyperscale data centre facility, including project estimate, cost plans, procurement contract management and risk management
Singapore aims to reduce carbon emissions in half by 2050, which is a challenging goal given the continued growth of the data centre sector in the country. [1] However, it also presents an opportunity for Singapore to explore green building, paving the way to become the leader in energy efficient, sustainable data centres.
The evolution of data centre designs, including the opportunity to incorporate new mechanisms that align with sustainability targets, is prevalent on this project. The project team is constantly looking forward and currently considering advanced elements such as a Liquid Cooling System, which is a form of technology that minimizes water and power consumption. This type of technology can reduce peak water usage by more than 20 per cent in tropical climates like Singapore’s. The new indirect evaporative cooling technology uses outside air to induce evaporation, which helps cool the water.
Once completed, the scope and scale of this new facility is expected to be one of the most advanced and energy efficient data centres in the world, thus aligning with, and contributing to, Singapore’s vision of becoming a global leader in the data centre sector. [2]
