Linesight shortlisted for Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2019

The shortlist for the Chambers Ireland Corporate Social Responsibility Awards 2019 has been announced, with Linesight shortlisted within the ‘Partnership with a Charity’ category. The Awards take place in Dublin in September 2019, recognizing the great work being done in the CSR space by businesses in Ireland.

Linesight has been working with the Irish Youth Foundation since early 2018, establishing the partnership with the goal of delivering an impactful education program to children from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds, in communities in which we work. Given that the nature of our business is closely linked with mathematical skills, math education was an obvious choice to support through our CSR activities, and the Maths-Whizz program seemed a natural fit.

Developed by Whizz Education and implemented by Camara Education locally, Maths-Whizz is an online math tutoring tool developed by Whizz Education, with proven, positive results in delivering math education to children and improving numeracy. It was decided that the focus for the program would be on children aged 6-12 years in DEIS schools and youth/homework clubs in communities in which we work. Ultimately, the objective is to engage young people, in an effort to create a major, sustainable impact on the lives of children living in vulnerable circumstances. Initially piloted from May to July 2018, the program currently supports 250 children in St. James’s Primary School in Dublin 8, the Aisling Project in Ballymun, and Ringsend and Irishtown Homework Club, as part of a three-year partnership with the IYF.

Across these three locations, in the initial project assessment at the five-month stage, an average math age improvement of seven months had been achieved. We are delighted that our partnership with the IYF is already delivering tangible, positive results for the children that we are supporting, and look forward to expanding this program to now reach 435 children in Ireland, as well as expanding this CSR initiative into more of the regions in which we operate.
