The current life sciences real estate market is seeing unprecedented demand for research space, with limited supply in attractive locations. This is driving developers to look for new ways of meeting this demand, with some advocating that brand new vertical campuses, and possible conversions of city centre office towers, might be the way forward.
On the eve of the London BISNOW Life Sciences Real Estate conference in March 2023, Linesight brought together expert representatives from the Life Sciences real estate sector for a closed roundtable discussion, to share their views on how stakeholders can benefit from changing the traditional paradigm of low-rise horizontal clusters, and explore key considerations for the creation of “Sky High Labs”.
Discussions centred on the strategies required to capitalise on the potential for such life science sector developments in the UK’s major cities, taking into account the viability of capital investment in the long-term.
