Healthcare company’s R&D Center in Mumbai

Linesight was engaged by one of the world's largest healthcare companies to deliver Project Management services for the retrofit and construction of its new R&D and
Stability Center and Office space in Mumbai.

Linesight’s confidential client continues to develop innovative products and services that benefit people’s health and well-being. The new facility serves as the R&D for global operations and supports product development for its pharmaceuticals division, thus
significantly contributing to India’s growing healthcare industry.  

Collaboration and teamwork 

The high-tech facility features labs, offices and rooms with mechanical gas piping, lab equipment, a stability chamber, spot extractors and a clean room partition. From a design perspective, instead of dismantling the old structure and rebuilding an entirely new facility, the unique brownfield design maximised the existing structure by adding two levels and building a connection between the new and old buildings, which resulted in cost and time savings and was more environmentally conscious.

Working closely with the client, Linesight demonstrated collaboration and teamwork, effective stakeholder management, developed a micro project development schedule and oversaw the design development and coordination. The project was successfully delivered on time and on budget with overall cost savings.

On time project delivery and cost savings 

COVID-19 happened mid-way through construction which impacted the overall project cost and schedule. The team demonstrated their ability to quickly adapt to the changing situation, managed sponsors’ expectations, and successfully delivered whilst keeping the project costs under control through value engineering.

Construction Supervision 

The facility was built in a live environment with an existing and operational campus within the same area, and in a densely populated residential area with limited surrounding space. The team had to closely monitor the project’s progress to ensure minimal to no disruption to ongoing operations and the wider community.
