Bringing data centre solutions to Amsterdam

Digital Realty is the world's largest wholesale colocation services and data centre solutions provider with over 150 secure locations globally. The AMS15 development is the latest addition to this portfolio, with ever-increasing demand for such services in the Amsterdam area, the decision was made to construct the new data centre in Hoofddorp.

Once complete, the development will provide 6 data halls once complete along with high quality office space for end users. AMS15 De President will become the benchmark in quality for future data halls in the region.

Tender management

Full cost management services are being provided by Linesight, from conception to contract award, through to final account. A procurement strategy was devised to allow Digital Realty to achieve the delivery of the project within the Client’s program & cost target. This has been achieved to date by carrying out a separate contract for the fit out works whilst the PBB (power base build) works are on-going.

Participating as part the project team providing pro-active expert strategic advice.

Managing the budget

A number of subsequent contract changes have been necessary after the initial tender due to both changes in developer requirements and also the future development of the 6 data halls, which poses a challenge in managing the budget
In order to manage the costs for the works a number of change/cost tracking documents have been created by the team, to ensure that the project stays on track, both within time and budgetary constraints.

Progressing to fit-out

Our performance on the project to date motivated the client to appoint the project team to the fit-out works, with further potential to be appointed on the proposed nearby AMS 16 development
We will negotiate the contract for the fit-out works with the main contractor in a timely manner, in order to achieve value maximization through their existing presence on site.
